In this article, we will go through what a RICOH smart display is, and which vendors we recommend and support.

What is RICOH Smart Displays?

Smart Displays is an application developed by the RICOH Spaces team, designed to be installed on both Android and Apple iPad. It supports modules such as Visitor Management, Room Display, and Interactive Wayfinder, providing a seamless, integrated experience across web, mobile, and smart displays. This ensures that users can efficiently manage and navigate their spaces with consistent and synchronised information across all platforms.

The types of screens are:

  • Room Display

  • Visitor panels

  • Interactive Wayfinder

Room panel

A room panel is installed outside of a meeting room. It is an interactive screen enabling users to view the room's availability, book, cancel, and check in/out of meetings.

Visitor Display

An interactive screen designed for use by both visitors and employees, allowing for easy sign-in and streamlined visitor management.

Visitors can:

  • Fill in questionnaire ( if enabled)

  • Play media and open files (as part of your questionnaire)

  • Sign in using the PIN received in the email invite

  • Scan a QR code to sign in using their mobile device

  • Have their picture taken and printed (label printer)

Interactive Wayfinder

The RICOH Spaces Interactive Wayfinder is a display of your live Floorplan(s) and availability. Thanks to its interactivity, users can use the screen to navigate through your office, across floorplans, filter, search, book and cancel spaces.

Devices we support

We recommend the following hardware:

  • QBIC [Room Display and Visitor Display]

  • Logitech Tap Scheduler [Room Display only]

  • iPad [Room Display, Visitor Display, Interactive Wayfinder]

This article provides a comparison of the features of each panel.

You can also source your own Android/iPad panel, and configure this yourselves, as RICOH Smart displays app may work on other devices. But they are untested and would not be commissioned, managed or supported by RICOH.

For an Interactive Wayfinder, we also recommend using a QBIC BXP-320 Box PC with a large interactive screen (your Ricoh account manager can discuss options with you).

Are there minimum requirements for devices?

Yes. The device model will be dictated by the OS version compatibility.

The latest requirements for Smart Displays are iOS 14.0 and Android 7.0. For Apple devices that is iPad Air 2, iPad Air 3rd Generation, iPad 5th Generation and iPad Mini 4 and later. All iPad Pro models are supported.

*For example, Both iPadOS 13 and iOS 13 drop support for devices with less than 2 GB of RAM.
